-
- SETTING UP CRYPTOMAN:
- ═════════════════════
-
- In the simplest mode, just create an entry that points to crypto.tpg.
-
- For example:
- Entry:
- <C>rptoMan v1.1
- Key=C Type=200 Opt Data=[drive:][\path\]crypto /q
-
-
- Optionally, you may add -Pnn in the optdata will enable you to set the
- number of times per day a player can play. The default is once a day. A
- -P5 will set the game up for 5 times a day. A -P0 will enable unlimited
- play. Unlimited plays per day is the default.
-
- For example:
- Entry:
- <C>rptoMan v1.1
- Key=C Type=200 Opt Data=[drive:][\path\]crypto -P5 /q
-
-
-
- If you want to permit users to chat with users in other games originally
- from Jeff Johnson, you need to add the path to the starcomm.dbf file.
- This feature is considered obsolete and there is no guarantee it will be
- present in future updates.
-
- For example:
-
- TYPE=200 Opt Data=C:\programs\crypto\crypto -P5 -CD:\Games\Star\Starcomm /Q
- ^
- (Note no space between the -C and the D:)
-
- drive:\path\crypto -C drive:\path\(any game from The Rock
- Software) /Q
-
- This will enable the chat function to work properly between any games that
- were released by The Rock Software. If this is setup properly, players
- may communicate between games such as StarQuest, CryptoMan, BrainPower, etc.
-
- That is about all there is to setting this game up. There is no configuring
- to worry about.
-
- If the users databases become corrupted, you may delete CRYPUSER.* and
- CryptoMan will recreate them the next time it is played.
-
- Scoring is based upon the number of completed messages and the size of
- the crypto.dbf (which contains the cryptograms). A completed message is
- worth 100 points. However, each time HELP is used, 10 points is deducted
- from the score.
-
- If you want your users to be able to see the instructions on how to play
- CryptoMan, create a menu for CryptoMan and have an option that will display
- the text file 'USERS.DOC'.
-
- Please read 'USERS.DOC' for instructions on how to play CryptoMan.
-
-
-
- ADDING and/or EDITING QUOTES:
- ═════════════════════════════
-
- To add or edit quotes, you will need a menu entry pointing to
- CRYPEDIT.TPG.
-
- For example:
- Entry:
- <E>dit quotes
- Key=E Type=200 Opt Data=[drive:][\path\]crypedit /q
-
-
- If you Add a record, it's important that you not leave it blank. Either
- fill in a quote, or restore your backup copy to prevent users from
- getting an empty quote.
-
-
- SUPPORT:
- ════════
-
- Support is available from BBS Consultants, Inc. Either by voice at
- 919-403-9473 or, better, by logging onto Downtown BBS and leaving a
- message to Tom Faulkner. You can also obtain answers to your questions
- via direct FIDO net mail to Tom Faulkner 1:3641/220 or via internet
- e-mail to tom.faulkner@downtown.durham.nc.us.
-
- Thank you for purchasing CrypoMan v1.1. I hope your users enjoy it. One
- thing that would make the game more enjoyable is for you to add quotes.
- The more quotes you have, the longer it will take for your users to
- learn them all. I recommend you get your users involved and let them
- submit quotes for use. With a little effort you should be able to use
- quotes that are local in nature which also adds interest. All users like
- to see their name and quotes from your users should make the program
- much more enjoyable. If you have User Manager v3.x, the crypto.dbf file
- used the same format as the fortune.dbf file used with User Manager so
- you can add the quotes from either to the other.
-
- Finally, I'm looking for additional quotes for a number of BBS
- Consultants, Inc. programs. If you care to share your quotes with others
- please send them along. The only restriction is that I'll only accept
- quotes that are in English (American?), not risque, and have a wide
- appeal, and that you have verified and have cited the author.
